⋆˚࿔ Challenges and Changes ⋆˚࿔

Hey guys!!

So, today I will be talking about a few challenges that my group and I faced and some changes that we decided to make for our film opener.

When we met up to film, we realized that many of the things we originally planned just would not work for our final product. Starting off with the fact that it would be complicated to have a server character. None of us had the right clothes that matched the role. Since we are high school students, we don't really have much money and tried our best to use as many resources that we already had. We talked about potentially buying an outfit, but the places we looked into were too expensive, and our cheapest options would not have arrived in time for us to film. Unfortunately, that plan just wasn't in our budget. Also, we felt that it would be confusing to the audience if the same person played two roles. We planned not to show the server's face, but realized that our audience may be able to tell from the hands. We discussed a few other ideas we could do instead, one of my favorites being that one of the supporting characters could end up being the person who poisons the food, but we haven't really settled on anything yet, so that's still in the works.

Moreover, we also experienced a few challenges during filming. Unfortunately, we did not end up picking up the equipment from Becon TV. None of us can drive and our parents each agreed that the place was too far. However, we used Christy's camera to film! The only issue was that she didn't have an SD card. Christy had filmed a few things on her camera prior, so we wouldn't have had enough space to film our opener. I ended up connecting the camera to her laptop and transferring the clips into a separate folder so she could access them later and delete them from the actual camera. Also, we agreed on a date to film in advance, but unfortunately were unprepared when it came to props. The main props of our opener included food since the setting is an over-the-top Christmas dinner. However, we did not have any food to film. We tried to improvise and use what we had, which wasn't much. We recognized that our improvisations just weren't good enough, and it made our opener look very low quality. After reviewing the footage we had just filmed, we immediately decided that we were going to refilm. I'll go into more detail about this in my next blog, but we knew for a fact that it was not Cambridge material.

Despite our struggles, we learned a lot from them and we think the changes we made will only better our project!!

Stay tuned for more!! ;)
