Hey guys!!
So, in class, we learned about title sequences!! Title sequences set the mood and present the main cast and crew behind the project. I chose a few title sequences to analyze!!
Here's what I picked:
1. Spider-Man: Homecoming
This title sequence starts with a fun, bright drawing of Spider-Man's face, with a cool zoom effect. The sequence includes lots of silly, vivid, and artistic sketches that play out in stop motion. Also, some fun transitions are added between each drawing animation. This emphasizes the overall cheery, and playful mood that is presented throughout the film. The fun colors and upbeat music also give off a lighthearted tone to viewers. Additionally, the bold font paired with a small shake animation used to credit the cast and crew also adds to the lively aspect of the sequence. The sequence then ends with the title of the film zooming out to appear on the screen. "Spider-Man" is yellow in all caps with a cherry red outline, and "Homecoming" is white with a mixture of both capital and lowercase letters. The "O" in Homecoming is also drawn as Spiderman. This unifies and emphasizes the overall light and amusing elements in the sequence that are reflected in the film.
2. Stranger Things
This title sequence begins on a black screen. The credits begin to appear, each fading onto the screen in all capital letters with a white, bolded font. The color then fades to red as it disappears off the screen. These credits appear during the formation of larger letters in neon red that are slowly shown to be coming together in the background. Additionally, eerie, haunting music plays while this occurs. The sequence then ends with the bright red letters coming together on the screen that spell out "Stranger Things", and the creators of the show being the last credit shown. Altogether, this creates an overall mysterious and suspenseful mood for the viewer, which emphasizes and reflects on the main aspects that are seen throughout the show.
3. Ratatouille
This sequence begins fading from a back screen. The camera pans upwards to reveal a sign with the title of the movie and Remy the rat carved into it. In the background is an overview of the city of Paris during sunset, along with the Eiffel Tower. Calm, French music plays in the background and fades as the screen fades to black. The word, "Fin" in fancy writing then fades onto the screen and quickly fades away, followed by upbeat orchestra music. This music is accompanied by fun scenes of, animated drawings as the credits roll. The font used in the title sequence is one that really emphasizes the prestige typically associated with the city of Paris. Additionally, the use of vivid colors, lively movement, and imagery of food all work together to create a whimsical atmosphere that references the creativity seen in the actual film.
Hope you enjoyed!! Stay tuned for more! ;)
