⋆˚࿔ Initial Storyboard ⋆˚࿔

Hey guys!!

So, the process of creating our movie opener is officially starting to move forward!!

We are so excited!! Over some time, my group and I worked together to make our storyboard, talking about all the details we wanted to include. I drew the storyboard while we all pitched in a shared our ideas.

Here's how it turned out:

When coming up with our final idea, we knew we wanted to do something holiday-themed. Around the holidays we also knew that a lot of the time there's family drama, which we concluded would be a great aspect of our opener. We want our opener to be entertaining and funny. Our initial idea was to have whatever drama or shocking news come out during the dinner and the genre of our opener was going to be a combination of drama and comedy. But we had a hard time figuring out what the news would be. So, instead of news, we added poisoning! This then changed the course of our film by adding some mystery and thrill to it!

On our storyboard, the first scene begins in the kitchen with a POV shot of the food being set up on the plate, and the person walks away. The camera will be placed on the plate as the food is being put on it. The lighting will be sort of high-key since it is in a kitchen, and there will be Christmas music in the background. The second shot will show the dining room with all the Christmas decorations as everyone sits down at the table. The lighting will be low-key since most of it will be candles and other dim lights. Shot number 3 then takes place back inside the kitchen. It will be a close-up on the same plate of food from shot 1, only, in this scene, a person walks in with only their torso in the frame. It will then cut to shot 4, which is a close-up of the person's hand holding a bottle of poison. The shot will then show the person putting the substance on the food and walking away. The lighting for this scene will also be high-key and the music will be sort of mysterious and tense violin music with low, muffled Christmas music still playing in the background. It will then cut to shot number 5, a POV shot, with the camera on the same plate of food as the server brings it out to the table. The Christmas music continues to play and becomes clear again.

A cut brings us to shot number 6, which is a wide shot showing the entire dining room with everyone enjoying their meal. The low-key lighting continues, as well as the Christmas music and there will be muffled conversation. There will be a cut to shot number 7, a close-up that begins at the character's hand and follows it as the character puts food on their fork. It cuts to shot 8 which is a mid-shot, and the person puts the food in their mouth and munches. The person's face slowly changes and the camera slowly begins to tilt sideways into a canted angle. The sounding conversations and Christmas music start to drown out. There is then a cut to shot 9, a wide shot, where the person suddenly collapses and coughs continuously. Everyone else runs toward them, freaked-out and yelling. The music will be tense and suspenseful. It will cut to shot 10, which is a POV shot, where it will look like the characters are hovering over the person who fell. Everyone else will be arguing, yelling, and fighting, each one blaming each other for what is happening. The coughing in the background suddenly stops followed by the fighting. There will be a cut to shot 10 which is a wide shot showing the hospital sign as the characters drive by it to go inside. There will be sad, concerning, and suspenseful violin music in the background, along with muffled siren sounds. The shot will also include red and blue flashing lights. This will then cut to shot 11. This shot shows a person walking up to the poison bottle. The camera will then slowly tilt up to reveal the server holding it as they pick it up.

It was so fun working with my group and coming up with what we are going to create!!

This is what we have for now but on filming day, we may have a few changes, so stay tuned to see what happens!!! ;)
