Hey guys!!
So, today I will be talking about color in our movie opener.
Color is an extremely important aspect of film. The colors in a film work together with other features to achieve different objectives, such as giving off a specific mood or propelling the story. Color choices can range from really subtle to even really obvious, depending on the goal or vision of the film. Additionally, color choices can be implemented all throughout a film. This can be done by incorporating it in the props or the setting, for instance. A lot of the color choices in our film opener were based on the mood, the plot, and the specific season it's supposed to take place.
Our film opener is set on Christmas day during dinner. In order to get this message across, we made sure to use a lot of props that were red and green. For instance, the decorations on the table are red and green as well as some pieces of our costumes. Red is typically associated with energy or danger, and green with health or finance. However, when two colors are combined, they carry a new meaning. So, when red and green are put together, they are often associated with Christmas and the holidays. Our film opener also includes a lot of warm hues. The use of warmer hues creates a mood of warmth and comfort that we wanted our opener to give off since it's holiday-themed, and these are feelings that a lot of people, including myself, feel during the holidays. Although, warm hues also represent passion, activity, and hostility. Our opener is also dramatic and includes a fight scene and an argument, so using warm hues really adds to that and helps us to invoke those feelings and emotions.
Stay tuned for more!! ;)
